Development Partnership Activities
EASI is a UK wide programme and its main focus is on areas with large numbers of asylum seekers. The partnership ensures a smoother integration process for those who receive a positive decision on their asylum claim and a better position for those who are refused asylum. The EASI DP believes in the need to recognise the asylum-seeking phase as an integral part of the integration process. The DP has explored how to work within this context and is developing an approach that could enable the process to be easier if the asylum period is used more positively.
Activities include testing new approaches of delivering support and prevocational training to equip asylum seekers with key and specialised skills. The programme is also designed to build the capacity of refugee community organizations (RCOs) strengthening them to give more support to asylum seekers (through volunteering opportunities) and to improve their access to mainstream services. These activities will provide opportunities for asylum seekers to have a positve experience and maintain and improve their skills during the asylum procedure.
